Having had my iPhone now for just a couple of months, I’m still amazed at how many free games for the iPhone are out there. The iTunes store is full of productive, educational and fun game Apps that are easy to acquire and better yet, free.
If you haven’t explored the App Store, you have to take some time to search the free Apps. Did you ever play that game at the arcade called Whack-a-mole? You’d try to hit the mole when it raised it’s head out of the whole with the mallot. It was my favorite when I was in college, guess I had a lot of aggression to get out. Well, check out the video above. It’s one of the free games for the iPhone called Smack a Toon and the Lite version is free and fun.
That’s one of my biggest iPhone App store tricks. Check to see if there’s a watered-down free version of any iPhone game before buying. Many of the Apps have free versions to let you test them out. Sure, some of the features are not available in the “lite” versions, but I’m not a big gamer. Lite is just right for me most of the time and I don’t even know what I’m missing. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not opposed to upgrading to the real version, but I need the added features to be well worth the price.
Anoter iPhone game I’m playing now on my iPhone is Vegas Pool Sharks Lite. As a matter of fact, it’s listed as the number one free App in iTunes. Games that include the option of playing an onscreen person are some of my favorites. It’s funny to be able to pick out your opponent and sort of play against them.
For now, go check out iTunes and just go down the list of Top Free Apps. Click on them to load in your iPhone. Or, better yet, search for the word LITE. What’s the worst thing that can happen? If you don’t like them, you’re not out any money and can remove them from your phone. Remember, free games on the iPhone can provide a lot of fun and help you figure out what you might want to pay for later.

Have you seen people using two thumbs to type on their iPhone? Well, let me tell you, that is not easy and I’ve been typing for years! Maybe that’s why it’s hard to learn how to type on my iPhone.
I will say, there are a few tricks you learn the more you type on it. Like for me, I have to hit the keys a little to the right of where I think I would be hitting them. Something about hitting right on top of the keys (or so I think), just doesn’t work.
Have you noticed how smart the keyboard is when you’re typing. It really is memorizing your most used words and combining that with a list of commonly used words to try to guess the word you want to type. It can be frustrating at first, until you realize the iPhone is just trying to help. Hitting the spacebar confirms the word and inserts it into your text without you typing the whole thing out.
Oh, and I found out something very interesting. The iPhone keyboard is so smart, and stealth-like, it anticipates the next letter your going to type and makes that part of the keyboard just a tad bit bigger. They say it’s so quick, you don’t even notice, but that it’s working behind the scenes for you. For instance, if it’s obvious I’m about to type the word - internet, the letters on the keyboard get progressively bigger as I type the i - then the n- then the t - then the 4 - etc. Again, we don’t even know it’s happening.
Check out this video. It breaks iPhone keyboard typing down to very simple, helpful steps.

It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday, and old contacts. Especially when you don’t know how!
My old SIM card was OLD. No, you don’t understand, it had contacts on it from people I haven’t talked to in years – probably as many as 4 years! It listed my primary care physician and he retired 2 years ago!
The problem, however, was that I couldn’t easily figure out how to delete these old contacts. Now, once I figured it out – reading, Googling, searching – it is more than apparent and actually made me feel ridiculous. But as I’ve always said, “what you don’t know, you don’t know.” Simple to many? Probably, but to me it took more time and searching.
[Trick: Look for the GI-NORMOUS RED Delete Contact button at the bottom of your edit contact screen] and follow these steps:
Tap the Phone icon on your home screen
Tap Contacts
Scroll to the contact you want to delete
Tap on their name, the Info screen opens
Tap on Edit button (top right)
Now, here’s the tricky part. SCROLL DOWN to the bottom and you’ll see this GIGANTUROUS RED button that says, Delete Contact.
Tap it and confirm
es, I know, when you’ve been using your iPhone for months this seems like a silly thing not to know. But, when my phone was completely new in my hands, figuring out how to delete an old contact was frustrating and hard. Hope it helps.
